I’m a Ph.D. student in love with biochemistry and metabolic engineering, especially interested in synthetic metabolism for C1 assimilation and production of fluorinated metabolites.

Research

Despite some major achievements in shifting towards bio-based production, many chemicals, like halogenated organic molecules, are still synthetized via traditional chemical industry. My Ph.D. project aims at paving the road toward a bio-based fluorochemicals production by engineering and studying a synthetic fluoro-metabolism in the well-characterized bacterium Escherichia coli. To develop robust activity of these synthetic pathways in vivo, I harness a combination of modern concepts within pathway design, enzyme promiscuity and growth-coupled selection strategies
