Hi, I am Daniel! I am a post-doc in the SEM group working on
expanding the synthetic biology toolbox for environmental
bacteria and programming biofilm formation and dispersal in Pseudomonas
putida for whole-cell biocatalysis.
Trivia
Daniel’s love for microorganisms also encompasses
eukaryotic cells: he occasionally betrays P. putida
by using yeast for the oldest biotechnological
application of microbes (alcoholic fermentation!). He
recently unleashed his South Germany cultural heritage
by baking bretzles for the whole group (cheating on P.
putida with yeast once again).
He is an enthusiastic bike rider and repairer. Dany is
locally known for his unique abilities to
single-handedly carry IKEA furniture around Copenhagen
in his bike.
He has a weakness for coffee and cake, which he often
brings to our lab to share with the other SEMsters.
Dany won our Best bacterial streaks on a plate contest
once. The absence of a proper evaluation committee
(Pablo suspects that he bribed the people who voted for
the best streak) makes his success dubious.
